Only the best harvest years make it into the famous Cricova cellars following the stringent assesment of the Cricova oenologists. Innitially matured in the french oak casks, the Cricova Codru 1995 Cellar Collection Wine was then cork-bottled and wax sealed, to be cellared in the underground city of Cricova, situated at a depth of 80m, galleries which are characterised by a unique microclimate: vibration free, an all-year-around temperature of 12º-14ºC and humidity of 85-95%. This 1995 wine is a reserve collection and there have been made just 15000 bottles of this elegantly matured wine from the outstanding grapes of the 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon (75%) and Merlot (20%)
Clive's notes:
Immediate after decanting: An aged colour with a red core and red brick rim. There is a gentle yet persistent black fruit nose yielding up leaf mould and plum. The palate is surprisingly fresh with mellow tannins and attractive mature fruit characters. Pleasing and light weight, quite elegant. The finish is a touch dusty.
3 hours later: Slightly fuller with a deeper plum character, still quite firm
24 hours later: Light nose, a touch mossy, dusty dry finish
General impressions: An attractive wine, fully mature but will hang on for several more years, ( up to five). Personally I would drink in the next 12 months but decant for about 2-3 hours prior to service

Fantastic taste - would absoultely recommend Review by Richard (Posted on 02/01/2009)
I was given a bottle of this as a present just before Christmas, took it home with me to share with the family and we opened it with a roast beef dinner. There's no other word to describe it other than fantastic. I'm so pleased I've saved the bottle because I want to order more - it has a lovely taste and smell that perfectly complements steak or a beef roast.
Buy a bottle - try it - unless you're an absolute connoisseur it'll be worth it, trust me. -
A fine glass of wine Review by Ray (Posted on 07/12/2008)
I was anxious to try a wine from 1995, and I wasn't disappointed. This wine is a very easy wine to drink and enjoy. The taste is mild and for a 95 it was very good value. It also gives you browing points when sharing it with your friends as other 95 wines are at least double the price or more. The wine also came packed in a nice charming box.
So want something good which is mild and warm then this Cordu is the right choice.
